Basutoland first used the stamps from the Cape of Good Hope in
1876 for their postage, in between 1910-1933 stamps from South
Africa were used.
I n 1933 Basutoland
issued their first stamps with a portrait of King
George V on.
From 1937 till 1952 all Postage stamps had the portrait of King
George V1 on.

The first stamps issued by Basutoland
were in 1933 and consisted of a set of 10 with values
between 1/2d and 10/-, the 5/- stamp is catalogued at £50
and the rarist of this set the 10/- olive green is £130
in mint condition. The only other set to be issued was
the 1935 Silver Jubilee set of 4
stamps.
King George

The best set of this reign was the
1938 set of 11 stamps which had the same designs as the
previous 1933 set. Price for this set in mint
condition is £60 with the 5/- and 10/- values both
catalogued at £27. The only other nice set is the 1948
Silver Wedding set of 2 stamps which is valued at £32 in
mint and used
condition.

The best set from this period is the
1961-63 new currency set of 11 stamps which is
catalogued at £75, the only other good one is the
1954-58 set of 11 stamps which fetches around £70
with the usual high values being the most
expensive.
