Victoria
The first stamps appeared from Cyprus
in 1880 and consisted of stamps from Great Britain,
overprinted with the word Cyprus. The rarist stamp by far
is a penny red overprinted Cyprus, plate 184 which is
catalogued at a whopping
£14,000.
Many stamps were
issued with a portrait of Queen Victoria from 1881, most of
these stamps up until 1896 are very
collectable.
King Edward
Vll
Two very nice sets were issued during
this period, the first in 1902 which consisted of 10
stamps. The highest value being the 45pi stamp, which
alone is valued at £200 in mint and £500 in used
condition. The second set came out in 1904 and had 12
stamps with a total value of £250 in mint
condition.
King George
V
Several nice sets were issued in this
period, highlights include the 1921-23 set of 15 stamps
with a value of £400. Two high values were
issued during this same period, with a watermark
multi-crown CA, the two values were the 10/- and £1
stamps catalogued at around £1,500 for the two. The
rarist stamp from this period is the very hard
to find SG117a the £5 black and yellow, issued in
1928 which is valued at £3,000 in mint and £6,500 in
used, another nice set to look out for, is the 1928
Anniversary set, with values up to a £1 which is
catalogued at £300 in mint
condition.
King George
Vl
Just one good set in this reign, it
was issued between 1938-51 and is a set of 19 stamps with
values up to £1. It is catalogued at £180 in mint
and £40 in used
condition.
Queen Elizabeth
ll
Two good sets were issued during this
period, both consisting of 15 stamps, the first coming
out in 1965 with a value of £90, the second between
1960-61 with a combined value of £120 in mint and £75
used.
